Ways To Improve Your Body Image

Hi Friends - long time no talk! I haven't had much to talk about since we can't really go anywhere or do anything thanks to the Coronavirus. Thankfully things are starting to open back up and hopefully I'll be able to start getting more content!

Something that's been on my heart lately that I wanted to talk about is body image. While being home, I've been consuming more TV and social media - which isn't always uplifting. I've seen so many diet ads, juice cleanses, how to avoid the COVID "nineteen" or the "quarantine fifteen." Guys, let me just say that NONE of that is healthy. We're just now beginning to come out of a global pandemic - you shouldn't feel any pressure to look a certain way when this is over. For me, I exercise because I love it, and because it helps keep me sane. But if sleeping in, baking, or online shopping keeps you sane, then do that! There is no right way to deal with these unprecedented times.

I know that sometimes it can be so hard to love ourselves - it's so easy to compare ourselves to others. Something that I've actively been working on is focusing on what I love about myself, versus what I want to change. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be healthier, stronger, etc - but you are more than a number on the scale or the size on the tag of your clothes.

That being said, here's my list of ways to improve your body image - because you deserve to love yourself. <3

  1. Don't focus on what you see on TV, social media, or the Internet.

  2. Focus on the things that you like about yourself.

  3. Don't compare yourself to friends (or anyone else!)

  4. Surround yourself with positive people.

  5. Don't focus on specific body parts - focus on yourself as a whole person.

  6. Don't look for validation from others to feel beautiful.

  7. Embrace your imperfections.

  8. Do things that make you happy.

  9. Shut down negative voices in your head!

  10. Love yourself for who you are, not who you think (or anyone else) thinks you should be.
