Goal Getter

Can you believe that the end of the decade is coming to a close? I don't know about you, but that makes me feel REAL old. This is the time of year where people start thinking about what they want to accomplish in the coming year.

I don't know if you need to hear this, but I know I did - your New Years resolution doesn't need to be a number on the scale. The scale doesn't define you (just like your clothing size doesn't!). Almost every other year that's been one of my goals, but not anymore.

There are so many factors that go into your weight that you shouldn't define 'healthy' or 'beautiful' by a number that's on the scale. Make small goals to move more, or to start bringing fruit and vegetables as a snack to work. Setting those small goals can set you up for success, and help you become healthier.

Give yourself some grace. You don't need to be perfect. You may have set resolutions before, and if you didn't achieve them, it's OKAY. Cut yourself some slack and start over.

Below are some New Years resolutions I plan on committing to that have NOTHING to do with weight - what are some of yours?

*Sit less and move more - try taking a couple walking breaks during work instead of just sitting at your desk.

*Get more sleep - my mom was right, nothing good happens after 9 o'clock. Turn off the TV and get some rest!

*Cook more at home - it's healthier, and it saves you money!

*Limit screen time - this one is going to be tough for me. Between work, blogging, and my own personal social media, I'm almost always staring at a screen. A big resolution that I have is to be more mindful of how much time I'm spending looking at my phone or computer, and work on being present and putting my phone down.

*Read more - instead of scrolling on your phone before bed, try to set aside 10-15 minutes to read!

*Save money or pay off debt - this is one of my highest priorities...bye bye student loans!

I hope you have a very happy and healthy New Year! I can't wait to see what 2020 brings.

xoxo,

Carina
